Des Jacklin is back in the headlines and much like the BDO in it’s later years not for the greatest of reasons.
Des Jacklin has recently confirmed via Facebook that he had seized the World Championship Trophy from the current champion, Wayne Warren.
Statement from BDO Chairman, Des Jacklin:
“Huge thanks to South Wales Police for recovering the BDO Men’s World Professional Trophy”
“The police actually seized the Trophy nearly 6 weeks ago but I have been waiting for a suitable time to make 9 hour round trip to collect it, today was that day”
“After investigation the South Wales Police had no option but to return the trophy to it’s rightful owner (the BDO)”
He ended his statement by reaffirming his belief that the BDO is alive and kicking.
Backlash on Social Media:
Many players, fans and darts pundits have been heavily critical as to weather the travel to pick up the trophy was necessary under Covid-19 regulations, and weather the BDO were the rightful owners due to the commercial arm of the company entering liquidation late last year.
